Battery replacement — when and why
The iPhone 15 Pro Max (September 2023) has a 6.7″ OLED (2796×1290), ProMotion 120 Hz screen, and its battery is about 4422 mAh according to regulatory filings (Apple doesn't publish the capacity). Apple quotes up to 29 hours of video playback on a new battery. Per Apple, batteries in iPhone 15 models and later keep 80% of their capacity after 1000 full cycles under ideal conditions.
Check the battery in Settings → Battery → Battery Health: maximum capacity, cycle count, manufacture date and first use. Replace it when capacity drops below 80%, the phone drains noticeably faster or shuts down on its own. To make the battery last longer, set a charge limit (e.g. 80%) in Settings → Battery → Charging.
On the iPhone 15 Pro Max the battery is reached from the screen side — the display has to come off first, and the battery is held by three adhesive strips. That is why it is best done in a service centre, not at home.
Screen replacement — original or compatible
A compatible screen is cheaper, but the iPhone recognises it as a non-genuine part: Settings → General → About → Parts and Service History will show an unknown-part message.
