In short: according to the manufacturer, Unitree robots run on one battery from about 1 hour (R1 humanoid) to over 5 hours (A2 quadruped). The popular Go2 Air and Pro run for 1–2 hours, and the Go2 EDU with its bigger battery for 2–4 hours. Today the G1 and H2 humanoids are mainly research, teaching and show platforms, while the A2 and AS2 quadrupeds are built for inspection and carrying loads.
Runtime and capabilities: quadrupeds
| Model | Type | Runtime (battery) | Max speed | Walking payload | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Go2 Air / Go2 Pro | quadruped | up to 1–2 h | 2.5 / 3.5 m/s | about 7–8 kg | entertainment, learning, shows; obstacle avoidance, Pro adds owner-following and voice commands |
| Go2 EDU | quadruped | up to 2–4 h | 3.7 m/s | about 8 kg | research and teaching: programming (SDK, ROS 2), mapping and navigation experiments |
| Go2-W | wheel-legged | up to 1.5–3 h | 2.5 m/s | about 8 kg | like Go2 but faster on flat ground — for longer routes |
| AS2 EDU | quadruped | up to ~4 h | 3.7 m/s | about 15 kg | carrying loads and following, all-weather work (IP54), inspections |
| A2 / A2-W | quadruped / wheel-legged | A2: over 5 h (about 20 km), over 3 h with a 25 kg load; A2-W: over 3.5 h | 3.7 / 3 m/s | about 25 kg | logistics, industrial inspection, rescue tasks; IP56 body |
Manufacturer (Unitree) figures, "up to" values. Real runtime depends on terrain, speed and load — with a load the robot runs for less time.
Runtime and capabilities: humanoids
| Model | Height · weight | Runtime (battery) | Degrees of freedom | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| R1 | 123 cm · ~27–29 kg | up to ~1 h | 20–26 | learning, shows, building your own programs (EDU versions) |
| G1 / G1 EDU | 132 cm · ~35 kg | up to ~2 h | 23–43 | research, education, shows and events; EDU adds Dex3-1 hands and programming |
| G1-D | 126–168 cm · ~90 kg (on wheels) | up to 2 h, Ultimate version about 6 h | 17–19 | data collection and AI training, service and retail scenarios |
| H2 | 182 cm · ~70 kg | up to ~3 h | 31 | full-size humanoid for research and shows; EDU adds programming and dexterous hands |
What "autonomy" means in practice
- Obstacle avoidance — every Go2 version has the L2 4D lidar and detects obstacles by itself.
- Following and routes — the Go2 Pro can walk beside its owner, follow a route set in the app and respond to simple voice commands.
- Mapping and navigation — EDU versions include SLAM and navigation tools. Unitree positions them for research and teaching, indoors and in limited areas.
- Patrols and auto-charging — in Unitree's industrial solutions (A2, AS2, B2) robots can run scheduled inspection patrols and return to a charging station.
- Humanoids — R1, G1 and H2 are controlled with a remote or app; independent tasks require programming an EDU version.
Standard vs EDU versions — which to choose
Air, Pro and Basic versions work out of the box: they walk, avoid obstacles and perform tricks, controlled from the app. EDU versions are open for programming: SDK (C++ and Python), ROS 2 support, extra ports and stronger compute modules (e.g. NVIDIA Jetson Orin). The Go2 EDU also has a bigger battery (15,000 mAh) and faster charging. If the robot needs to run your own scenario — a university, a lab, a company — choose EDU.
Which robot for which task
- Shows, events, marketing — Go2 Air/Pro, R1, G1 (dance, tricks, interacting with guests).
- Education and research — Go2 EDU, G1 EDU, R1 EDU, H2 EDU: robotics, AI, motion learning.
- Inspection and site security — A2, AS2: site rounds, outdoor work, dust and water resistance.
- Transport and logistics — A2 (about 25 kg while walking), AS2 (about 15 kg), with following mode.
- Data collection and AI training — the wheeled, two-armed G1-D.

Price, rental and configuration
Unitree robot prices are quoted individually — they depend on the version, equipment and delivery time. We sell to order, rent robots (e.g. for events) and configure them. Message us, describe the task, and we'll suggest a model and quote a price.
FAQ
How long does a Unitree robot run on a battery?
Per the manufacturer: R1 about 1 h, Go2 Air/Pro 1–2 h, G1 about 2 h, Go2 EDU 2–4 h, H2 about 3 h, AS2 about 4 h, A2 over 5 h. Less with a load. Many models have quick-swap batteries, so a spare battery extends the working time.
Can a robot patrol a site on its own?
Simple routes and following are handled by the Go2 Pro. Scheduled patrols with a return to the charger are the job of the industrial A2 and AS2 in the right configuration. Humanoids need custom software (EDU) for this.
Can I program the robot?
Yes — EDU versions (SDK in C++ and Python, ROS 2). Air, Pro and Basic versions are not intended for programming.
Can I rent a robot?
Yes, we offer rental — tell us the dates and the task.
